Topic: DIGICheck Updates

Hello,

we had to add some important changes to DIGICheck quickly, resulting in version 4.51:

- Support for the new HDSPe PCI card and the HDSPe MADI card added

- DIGICheck wrote the file header at the end of the recording. When the recording failed the user was left with an unusable file. Without header no program (even DC itself) was able to load it. This has been changed, DC now writes the header at the start, and therefore always leaves you with a valid file, that - if nothing else works - at least DC itself will load.

- The export (copy) process into multiple files revealed hardware instabilities of some systems. We reduced system load of this process a bit, making the process operational even on non-optimal systems.

Re: DIGICheck Updates

Hello,

version 4.52 of DIGICheck is now available for all DC fans as prerelease. This is the final version, but due to so many internal changes we would be happy to get some feedback of our hardcore users before putting it on our website. No BSODs expected, don't worry.

https://archiv.rme-audio.de/download/dc_452.zip

The changes:

- instability fixed that got revealed by a Fireface driver update some time ago.

- Record: the save dialog has been competely re-written. DC now gives default names, checked for validity, even in complicated cases (exporting to two channel files will result in no files having the original name, so a simple check will fail, etc).

- Record: the sample rate for playback had been influenced by the sample rate setting (F3), even when the checkbox was missing. Fixed and made perfect.

- Record: the export function can now be used 'offline'. So you don't need an RME interface in your computer to load a big multichannel file into Record, and then export/save it to lots of stereo files or whatever you like.

- Icons: at the time when we added Record, the wrong (old) DC icons came back into the source code. Fixed.

Have fun!

Re: DIGICheck Updates

Here comes the pre-release of version 5.2!

Changes:

- many small bugfixes

- Global Record now checks for existing temporary files and asks if these should be opened. This way one will not loose data if something goes wrong during recording or when the program exits unexpectedly.

- When the audio file size exceeds the limits of the wav standard (4 GB), RF64 files (also known as Riff 64, Wav64 or Broadcast Wave, but NOT Wave64) are written. That means extremely big files will stay valid and compatible to most current audio software programs.

- Full support for the Fireface UC.

- The RMS measurement function in Bit Stat has been changed. The former unweighted 'RMS', which worked from 0 Hz up to half the sample rate has been removed. It is available via TotalMix or Hardware Level Meters anyway, but makes no real sense as the standard measurement for noise should be limited to the audio band, 20 Hz to 20 kHz. This is what it does now, see its label. dBA also uses this LB (Limited Bandwidth) audio filter. This way, it is now possible to verify the unchanged SNR in double and quad speed mode. The noise shifted into the upper frequency range is still visible and displayed with the other level meters.

- New program icons

Please test and comment!

The Windows version has a bigger list:

- added M/S processing option for the Vector Audio Scope
- the Channel Status now shows bit lengths in Consumer mode according to the latest standard.

Bug fixes:
- When installing a new version into the old directory, all files in there had been deleted (even user workspaces).
- Big workspaces with multiple windows did not load completely.
- The screen border detection did not work on resizing (F5/6/7).
- With multiple windows open and shutting down Windows only one window had been saved.

Re: DIGICheck Updates

DIGICheck Windows has been updated to version 5.30:

https://archiv.rme-audio.de/download/dc_530_win.zip

Changes to 5.23:

Version 5.30 (July 2010) adds support for the Babyface and the new FireWire driver generation 3.x. In the Surround Meter the level meters can now use ITU weighting, which also adds an additional level summing bar to display the multichannel loudness value. The hotkey P (Presets) has been changed to hotkey W (Workspace Quick Select), the number of entries has been increased to 30. Bug fixes: exiting a recording by a double-click on Stop caused an invalid file header. Capital letters in the path or the file name could haved caused problems during the save process. When using more than one FireWire device these were not handled correctly.

The Mac version will have ITU soon too, the other changes did only affect the Windows version.
