Topic: Simple question about number of MADI channels

I have a rather simple question regarding MADI and the number of channels it can support.

Straight from the MADI information on the website:

64 audio channels at 48kHz sampling frequency, 32 channels at 96kHz and 16 channels at 192kHz.

When you say 64 channels, does that mean 32 inputs and 32 outputs ?

Or does that mean 64 inputs and 64 ouputs?

Thanks in advance for the clarification,

Regards,

Re: Simple question about number of MADI channels

Copy from the Madiface USB Details :
The compact MADIface USB provides MADI I/O over USB 2.0 while supporting the format's full 64 channels for recording and playback, under Mac and Windows. Both inputs can be used for full redundancy operation.

I would say it is 64 channels input and 64 channels outputs simultan, yes ?

Confirmed waedi, 64 in and out at single speed (44.1/48 kHz) when using 64ch format or 56ch (configurable).

Thanks for the clarification ! That's indeed a lot of bandwidth ! smile
