Topic: Problem with Babyface RME software and Jitsi (video conference)

I use an older RME Babyface USB 2.0 on Mac  (Sierra Version 10.13.6). I think I have the most recent software because I had to re-install it recently. During lockdown I have been performing live music with other musicians using different video conference programmes like Zoom. Yesterday, we used Jitsi, an open-source video conferencing program, for the first time. While recording my performance with a phantom powered condenser mic I had a huge problem with the gain on Total Mix constantly surging up in increments from a low setting of say 21 up to 51 or even the maximum gain of 60. It was not pleasant.

I have never had this problem on Zoom. I appreciate any possible suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Problem with Babyface RME software and Jitsi (video conference)

You can disable automatic gain control by appending this to your URL: “#config.disableAGC=true”.

https://[SERVER]/[conference]#config.disableHPF=true&config.disableAGC=true&disableNS=true&config.disableAEC=true&config.disableAP=true&config.stereo=true

Passing the https link with params in the join room field should work, at least it used to work. We were using that for testing using torture.

This Jitsi seems to have a lot of auto control functions running in the background.

I had no idea that such software can take control of a gain in Totalmix.
May be over midi and you can block the specific midi command somehow ?

Thanks a lot waedi. I was hoping it was a slightly more simple solution.
I will have a look into this automatic gain control idea. that you suggest.
Thanks again
