Topic: Cant get standalone mode on Fireface Uc to work, why?

Hello fellow Rme Peeps !

I have had the Fireface Uc for a while now and really like the little powerhorse !

But somehow i cant really figure out how to get it working in standalone mode. I have connected Headphones via the HP out and Monitors hooked up to Output 1/2.

Im using it on Mac, if that is from interest, but shouldnt when talking about standalone, id figure ?

Well if anbody has some general step by step guide, id be super juiced ! The manual didnt help really...

Best wishes, have a great one !

Re: Cant get standalone mode on Fireface Uc to work, why?

What exactly shall the UC do in stand-alone-mode ?
When the USB cable is disconnected from the computer, then it is in standalone mode and you have to adjust everything on the front panel.
User manual page 38 and 39 tells it all.

oh thanks for replying !

i just want to use it as i do when connected with the pc, to monitor what comes in through my analog-mixing-desk !

Do i have to configure something special before unplugging, or just adjust the levels and then it works, im quite unsure how to accomplish this... the manual didnt help me by now.

In the USB Fireface settings the clock-mode should be set to internal.
Sampling rate can be 48kHz or whatever.
Well, the user manual does not help you because you want to do bollocks.
You have an analog mixer.
connect the loudspeakers to the main out of the mixer and enjoy the music.
In this set the UC is obsolete and makes no sense to connect.

When it is connected to the computer for listening music it does convert digital file into analog sound.
Your mixer deliver already analog sound, all is done.
Stand-alone makes sense when you use it as adat converter to expand another audio interface with analog inputs and outputs.
Also it is possible to use it as standalone micpreamp or headphone amp I think.
But that seems to be not tha case there.

Re: Cant get standalone mode on Fireface Uc to work, why?

Well it certainly does make sense to have a possibility to listen to what i am doing at my gear when i just want to have a quick jam, without setting up my daw and having the computer running. Which is distracting from time to time.

i want to use it that way cause it should stay connected as it is to be the most convenient. As the Mixers groups are routed to the interface for recording them.

The unnecessary Step of conversion happening, doesnt bother me really !

Its just a personal setup preference, that makes sense in my situation smile

Re: Cant get standalone mode on Fireface Uc to work, why?

Ok Ok
How is the setting in the USB settings ?
Have you set the clock-mode to internal ?

Can you do the routing in Totalmix to listen your inputs on the speakers ?
Make it all the way you wish to have it.
When everything sounds fine, try to just disconnect the USB cable and see what happen. ?
