Topic: digiface usb and Alesis hd24 recorder

hi,

I plan to buy a digiface usb in order to finalize my analog based studio with Soundcraft Ghost 24 and Alesis HD24xr hard disk recorder.
Would the digiface usb allow me to record 24 tracks in my DAW by using the HD24XR as a, I guess, very good AD/DA converter?

thanks for your kind help

stéphane

Could not find HD24XR only Ui24.
May you post a link to your unit then it will be possible to tell something about it.

That's an Alesis HD24XR, I suppose?

And yes, that works very well with the Digiface USB.

It's an ADAT device and I've never come across one that didn't work, unless defective. I own Digiface and a crazy number of ADAT devices...

The digiface allows up to 32 channels for recording and 34 for output.

thanks to you both! yes I meant Alesis HD24xr.. sorry for not being precise enough.

So, I will be able to record directly in the DAW/computer ? and keep the HD24 only as a converter? sounds good !!

Re: digiface usb and Alesis hd24 recorder

Yes exactly ! The Digiface is a little magic box !
Make the clock-mode settings right and it will work fine.
One of the two units can have the setting to internal clock, the other unit has to sync to the other, clock-mode setting has to be Adat or external adat.

That's another point. I don't know if the Alesis works that way, but I think it does.

Here's a thread about using it as a standalone converter:

Re: digiface usb and Alesis hd24 recorder

thanks a lot for the replies and for the link! much appreciated.

Waedy sounds right, it seems clearly feasible to use the HD24 as an A2D converter.

thanks again
