Topic: SPDIF FX Loop through TotalMix?

Hi everyone,

FF800
Win10
DAW = Reaper
Outboard FX = Axe FX.
Current connections:
            Guitar > Axe FX input 1
            Axe FX > FF800 via i) balanced output 1 (for wet signal) and ii) SPDIF (for dry signal)
            FF800 > DAW

Objective: I want to run my bass through a compressor in the Axe; send that signal via an FX Loop to my DAW to process an insert effect on a track; send that processed signal back to the Axe for final time-based processing; send that processed signal back to the same track in my DAW.

My question: can I use the loopback feature in TotalMix FX to create a SPDIF FX loop with the Axe FX?

If not, does anyone have any advice how I can route this? The critical point is that there must be an FX loop running from my Axe and my DAW, as otherwise the output of the Axe will include the time-based processing before the insert effect in the DAW. The Axe does allow for an FX loop via analog Out 2, but I was hoping I could do this looping via SPDIF.

Re: SPDIF FX Loop through TotalMix?

No need for loopback function here, just plain routing.
The analog signal from the Axe should be visible in Totalmix input channel and is at the same time available for Reaper
in its inputs. No further routing needed. The inputs arrive the Daw and the Totalmix at the same time.

Send the Bass out of Reaper to a outputchannel, by default it is 1/2, this signal is visible in Totalmix in the middle row the first channel from left, the softwareplayback channel 1/2.
You only have to route that signal to the hardware output channel SPDIF 1/2 and it will go into the Axe.
