Topic: Looking for the PAD button in totalmix for Fireface UCX

I just recently upgraded from the Babyface Pro to the Fireface  UCX. Im having toruble locating the PAD button near where the stereo button and 48V button was. I like using it because it gets rid fo the room noise for me. Can anyone help?

A quick look into the user manual confirms there is no pad button. This feature is not part of the interface.
Lower the volume in the DAW doesn't fix this ?
Otherwise passive attenuators would help.
You also can try to use the EQ or the Dynamics Gain for reducing the input signal.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

I think you misunderstood something. PAD is no noise buster. PAD simply dampens the input signal, for the BBF Pro 11dB.
The same effect you would get by turning down the fader in the DAW by 11dB or to use a little less input gain for the mic.
It makes the signal (and by this noise floor and background noise) more silent, so that you do not hear it anymore or not so loud.

PAD you use in situations where the input signal is so hot that even lowest gain settings result into signals over 0dB (e.g. dynamic Mic in front of a bass drum or alike).

There are different preamp designs .. some use PAD but some not because they are designed to support higher input signals so that you have enough threshold. To put some examples: UFX+ or 12Mic do not have/need PAD, Octamic XTC has 4 inputs with PAD.

You can look-up the differences of the Mic inputs of these devices in the technical specs to get a better overview and then compare with BBF Pro ...:
