Topic: Output on both Phono 3/4 and Main 1/2 in USB mode

I recently got the ADI-2 pro fs r black label. After going through the manual and this link (https://www.hifizine.com/2019/01/rme-ad … nal-modes/) referenced in one of the threads, I thought it should be possible to play music from my laptop in USB mode, and get analog output on both the phone and main outputs. However, I noticed that the main output is turned off as soon as I plug in my headphone.

The requirement might sound idiotic, but the reason I would like to do this is: I want to leave both the main output and headphones plugged in, and I would like to select one of them to be active. Is this possible?

Re: Output on both Phono 3/4 and Main 1/2 in USB mode

Hi Sanjay,

yes it's possible, I use "remap key" feature to toggle between main output and phones.

Options -> Phones -> Dual Phones ON (optional, if needed)
Options -> Phones -> Bal Phones Mode OFF
Options -> Phones -> Toggle Ph/Line 3/4
Options -> Phones -> Mute v. TRS 1/2
Options -> Phones -> Mute v. TRS 3/4

Options -> SPDIF / Remap Keys -> Remap Keys ON
Options -> SPDIF / Remap Keys -> I/O (2) Toggle Ph/Line

Check my blog article, it contains part of the config, maybe this also gives you some inspiration for other key mappings: https://www.tonstudio-forum.de/blog/ind … our-Setup/

Thanks Ramses.

This is pretty cryptic, but I will try it.

I don't see SPDIF / Remap Keys under setup, although I remember seeing it somewhere.

You're welcome, this is explained in the fine manual, see ch 14.1.4

Manual ch 5.4 gives you an overview over the menue structure and 10.2 contains additional into about the use of the B/T encoders.

Maybe you forgot to turn the 1st encoder (usually for "Bass") after pressing "Setup" key, to change from Setup to the Options Menue.
Once you are in the options menue you turn the 2nd encoder (usually for "Treble") to select the submenues like:
Phones, Display, SPDIF/Remap Keys, DeviceMode / DSD, Clock

Note: if you scrolled down in a submenue by pushing the B/T Encoders, then you need to get up 1st to the top entry, before you can select a different submenue.

Its not that tricky once you get used to it.

Re: Output on both Phono 3/4 and Main 1/2 in USB mode

Ramses,
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I found it.

BTW, after some experimentation I found that I only need the following setting:

Options -> Phones -> Mute v. TRS 3/4

to prevent main output from turning off when headphones are plugged in the front TRS 3/4 output. The additional setting:

Options -> Phones -> Toggle Ph/Line 3/4

is useful to toggle between main & headphone, which is useful.

I haven't done any remapping of keys, because right now I can toggle by pressing the big Volume button a little longer.
