Topic: AES vs. S/PDIF input

Hi guys,

I have the ADI-2 DAC FS (AK4493 version) and am getting a new source which has both AES/EBU output via XLR and regular RCA S/PDIF output.

Obviously the ADI-2 DAC doesn't have XLR input but page 36 of the manual says that a XLR-RCA cable with a certain pin configuration can be used to receive an AES signal.

So the question is: is AES going to give me any advantage over S/PDIF RCA?

Thanks to RME for their wonderful sounding DAC and fantastic support, both of which continue to impress!

No nothing except possible longer cables that work. So if your spdif cable works it is 100% ok and identical.
