Topic: Thunderbolt expansion card

Hi!

I'd like to connect a UFX+ to my daw but I don't have a thunderbolt port on my motherboard, so I need to choose a pcie expasion card to add one.

Can I use anything I find or I need to be careful of the chipset like in the firewire days? Any known recommended suggestions?

Nb: I'm aware I can use usb2/usb3 but these ports are all used already.

Thanks!

Re: Thunderbolt expansion card

As an alternative, get an USB3 expansion card, then you do not even need a computer with TB support on Mainboard / in BIOS.
With USB3 the cabling can be even 1m longer compared to TB (3m instead of 2m) and it's all less expensive.
Sonnet card with FL chipset is recommended.

Very good point, that's exactly what will happen! Thanks a lot for your help!

Re: Thunderbolt expansion card

You can get it really cheap $12 on AliExpress, though I assume it would be the basic version
I bought mine from Fovore at AliExpress, Fresco 1100 but haven't tested it yet.
