Topic: question: FF800 line outs to HM800 aux in via Y Cable

apologies in advance for polluting your forum with a non-RME question... thanks in advance for your time.

what's the proper way to go from dual mono balanced line out to single stereo unbalanced auxiliary in?

RME Fireface800's line outs to Mackie HM400 Headphone Amp's aux in via a Y cable = high noise floor

smartphone aux out to HM400 aux in = no discernible noise

currently reading through "The Last Best Right Way To Do It" https://www.ranecommercial.com/legacy/note110.html and trying to cover the sleeves on the TS side of my Y cable with tape/nail polish....

Re: question: FF800 line outs to HM800 aux in via Y Cable

I traced the issue back to this powerstrip: https://tricklestar.com/pages/tier-1-ad … owerstrips

Whenever the power strip's control input was engaged, I'd get a ton of noise from my HM400 aux ins regardless of how I plugged them into my FF800.

The Y cable works just fine.
