Topic: UFX+ crackle

Dear all!

I am running a UFX+ with a ADI-8 MK2 on an iMac Pro (11.6.2) @96kHz  with Reaper. Recently, I hear a crackling sound over the speakers and eventually I get an overload and Reaper will Mute the channel. If I check DIGI-CHECK, channels 01-22 show signal at -90dB when nothing is playing. The other channels show not signal down to -140dB.

I reinstalled the RME drivers but the problem is coming back after some time. Really strange - dying capacitor? Any suggestion?

And you did not have the idea that low level signal is the base noise of the analog inputs?

You run the UFX+ with USB 3? Check the Settings dlalog for USB errors when the crackling reappears.

The Fireface USB setting app is reporting CRC errors.

I am running USB3, the cable is plugged into the USB port of the iMac Pro.

The analog inputs are 'empty' that is have no cables.

What can I do next? I reinstalled the driver & checked the cables.

I could record a spectrum when crackle and pops start while running noise at low level. It shows some very narrow equally spaced high-freq. peaks, a bit like feedback. Unfortunately I am not sure how to upload an image. Perhaps that helps.Cheers

Finally, I wiped the HD & made a reinstall. So far, it is quiet.

However, I get lots of CRC errors. What does that mean and how can I improve that?
