Topic: [ADI-2 Pro] Dig. Out Source for DSD playback

Hi,
Recently I bought ADI-2 Pro FS R and paired with Genelec monitors (8330A) via AES3.
I setup ADI-2 as following:

  • Basic Mode: USB

  • CC-Mode: Stereo

  • Dig. Out Source: Main Out

  • DSD Direct: OFF

When I connected my PC and played some music files, PCM perfectly worked with volume.
But any DSD files did not work. I expected DSD playback is also routed to Dig. Out Source from DSP described in the diagram in the manual p.39.

Doesn't Dig. Out Source support DSD?

Re: [ADI-2 Pro] Dig. Out Source for DSD playback

I thought that ADI-2 performs DSD-to-PCM internally because the volume can also work on DSD.
But I found that the volume control for DSD is not done by DSP, so no signals are sent to digital output.
I think I understand why DSD playback did not work for digital output.
Thanks!

At the latest manual v3.5: https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/adi2profsr_e.pdf

Chapter 19, page 45 to 47 has detailed description of DSD, hope you found it useful. smile
