Topic: Daisy Chain - Digiface AVB > 12Mic > AVB Tool

Hello RME,

1. Is it possible to use 2 AVB ports on 12Mic for connecting both Digiface AVB and AVB Tool (trying to avoid Switch in this small setup)?

2. Will there be no sync issues etc by avoiding central unit (AVB Switch)?

3. Will both AVB Tool and 12Mic inputs be recorded perfectly in phase/sync in my DAW?

2) (not a valid question, you need a switch)
3) yes, they are perfectly in phase across an entire AVB network, regardless of the number of switches.

You could connect 12Mic and AVB Tool by MADI (either optical or coaxial) to avoid the switch. That would initially mean the 12Mic and AVB Tool are "out of phase" (more precisely, the MADI channels are a couple of samples late), but there's a built-in feature in the 12Mic and AVB Tool that allows you to adjust the playout time for an outgoing AVB stream. You'd reduce this presentation time offset for the stream that forwards the incoming MADI signals to the Digiface AVB and then all channels would be sample-aligned and in phase.
