I know this is probably not meant to work, but it feels so close that I wondered if anyone had tried this successfully.

I am running macOS Monterey 12.3 on a windows intel computer via VMware.

I would like to use the RME Digiface USB with this virtual mac.

the driver installed just fine, (gave permission - restart etc), I can see and hear an incoming mic - so the Digiface is powered.

the driver recognises the Digiface and correctly reports the ADAT devices connected and word-clock lock, sample rate all look correct. But in the Audio MIDI setup/Audio Devices, all Channel volumes are greyed out - and all set to 0. aka I cannot hear anything if I e.g. try to send a signal via reaper. or other DAWs

I have set the VM to USB2.0 - also tried USB 3.1 - no diff

any hints that might make this work would be appreciated.
