Topic: Babyface Pro switching to CC mode, stuck in CC mode

I´ve had my RME Babyface Pro for around 10 years using it with a PC. Twice it has switched itself over to the class compliant (CC mode, for Mac/Ipca) without me touching it.
More troublesome is that I cannot switch it back to PC mode using the method as described in the manual (hold down select and dim buttons while plugging in the USB cable).
Also, this unit does not appear to work in standalone mode, as it is not possible to switch it on when an external power supply is inserted.

I am close to ditching this unit now and replace it with another brand.

Would someone have a solution to this.

Alternative, recommend an interface with even better quality (D/A conversion and pre-amps)

Thanks!

Re: Babyface Pro switching to CC mode, stuck in CC mode

The Babyface Pro was not available before 2015 (that makes it 7 years maximum). The first versions needed USB bus power to enable audio in stand-alone mode.

To change the mode try this method:

When using a power supply (stand-alone mode), holding down SELECT and DIM for more than two seconds repeatedly changes between PC and CC. Note that changing the operating mode is not supported during normal USB operation, so any USB connection has to be removed.

Sometimes the switches get old and need a stronger press to make contact.
