Topic: UFX+ Optical MADI <-> 1610Pro multi mode or single mode??

Hi - couldn't find this when searching or in the UFX+ manual.

I'm thinking of expanding i/o of my UFX+ with a 1610Pro and using the optical MADI optional accessory instead of the BNC. However, it's unclear which option to add to the 1610Pro.

The UFX+ manual gives no clear answer if it's single mode or multi mode so I'm not sure which to add.

Sorry if this is obvious MADI is new to me and i'm gathering info.

Multimode is the default for RME MADI products.

Single Mode is used primarily in broadcasting applications, so you can special order items like the Fireface UFX III with Single Mode optics when required.

Re: UFX+ Optical MADI <-> 1610Pro multi mode or single mode??

Multimode is sufficient for most cases, OM3 or OM4 fiber cable: up to 2 km cable length between each of the MADI devices in a serial fashion one after the other and back to the recording device.

With Single Mode, this is 10 km between each of the devices if I remember right.
