Topic: BRIEF Tutorial of the Equalizer settings RME ADI-2 and ADI-2 PRO DAC

For your convenience:

Start by pressing the EQ button AT THE FRONTSIDE of your DAC!

To scroll to the 7 Filter Modes (BB>B1>B2>B3>B4>B5>BT):
•    Press the LARGE Volume knob for each of the Filter Modes

To change the GAIN of each of the Filter Modes:
•    Turn the LARGE Volume knob

To change the FREQUENCY of  each of the Filter Modes:
•    Turn Encoder 1 knob

To change the QUALITY Factor of each of the Filter Modes:
•    Turn Encoder 2 knob

    Filter Mode    1) Gain    1) Frequency    1)  Quality Factor
BB    Band Bass    G +0.0    F 100    Q 1.0
B1    Peak or Shelf or Low Cut    G +0.0    F 100    Q 1.0
B2    Peak or Shelf    G +0.0    F 500    Q 1.0
B3    Peak or Shelf    G +0.0    F 1.0k    Q 1.0
B4    Peak or Shelf    G +0.0    F 5.0k    Q 1.0
B5    Peak or Shelf or Hi Cut    G +0.0    F 10.0k    Q 1.0
BT    Band Treble    G +0.0    F 10.0k    Q 1.0
1)    Default values RME ADI-2

BB/Band Bass and BT/Band Treble
Are only accessible after setting Option: Load B/T w. Preset: “On”

Peak (bell-shaped) filter
This type of filter is used to boost or cut a specific frequency band, around the center frequency of the filter. (Bell shapes are peak filters)

Shelf (shelving) filter
A shelf, or shelving, filter is used to boost or cut all the frequency content above or below a specified frequency—the cutoff frequency.

The best way to get a grip on what the filters and their parameters mean, is play around with them and listen.

Could you complete the tutorial by adding the procedure to save the setting under a preset?

Let me note that I am completely confused by the names "Temp", etc... Don't understand what they mean.

And also not to forget: Since there is the remote for win and mac, playing arround is super easy.

The EQ presets “Manual” and “Temp” (= temporary) are intermediate storage places.

“Manual” stays even after restart if it was selected before shutdown.
“Temp” temporarily stores changes of existing presets, and is cleared after restart.


To name and save an EQ setting, press the EQ button twice until you see the “EQ Enable / Presets”- screen.


Source preset to save is always the last active one.

Now scroll down to:
• Preset Select: ## – Selects the destination slot number.
The slot’s name is displayed in the line below.

• Name: xxxxxxx - change the destination slot’s name, changes are stored immediately.

• Save to (push 1s): [destination slot number].
If you scroll the destination slot number beyond 20, the line changes to:
• Swap with (p.(ush) 1s) and you can select a preset slot to swap with the current one.
This way you can easily re-order the preset slots.

About the remote. Remember to yank the knobs on the device so they dont oxidize and freeze! Remote is lovely, but the knobs need some use.

what do you mean by yank? My top encoder is definitely uneven feeling.. Is there anything to do to make it smooth?

I dont know about that, but if you dont use the encoders they might stop working properly. I just give them some turns from time to time. Maybe yank means something else but thats what I mean.
