Topic: How to choose between HDSPe RayDAT and HDSPe AES

I'm building a new machine and need a PCIe card. Apart from the obvious difference in interface type (AES/ADAT) and the channel count, can you please tell me, is there anything else to consider when choosing between these two cards?

Thanks

Dominic

Re: How to choose between HDSPe RayDAT and HDSPe AES

Hi Dominic,

If you plan on switching sample rates often, AES/EBU interfaces deal with this better than ADAT interfaces. With AES/EBU your channels will always be the same; with ADAT, when you double sample rate the channel count is halved. This can create some routing confusion.

Also, the HDSPe AES card has onboard Word Clock, the HDSPe Raydat will require an expansion card for WC connectivity.

Other than this, the cards are pretty much the same.
