Topic: Multiface I/O BOX error - stopped working - no lights

Hello.

I have HDSPE (express Pci card) and Multiface running on same PC for years. Since yesterday the driver shows I/O Box error and no audio is working.

There is no led activity on the Multiface - all leds are off. When I plugin the firewire cable the Host error lamp briefly (half a second) lights up and then out again. If I repeat that quickly the error light does not go on at all. If I unplug, wait 10 seconds and then reconnect the lights goes on briefly again.

I have reseated the PCI Card to different slot (gets detected and seems to work)
installed new driver (i was only one behind).

I would appreciate troubleshooting advice. Are there any log files I can look at?

You could try an external power supply for the Multiface.

Thanks, I just tried this. At first same behavior. now after a while the leds dont light up at all and I get a high pitch sound on the outputs. I fear the multiface is broken. I will try to get a replacement unit from ebay now.

Sure that external power supply is working and give the correct voltage ?
Measuring at the plug with a multimeter is quick and reliable.

I just got a second hand multiface. this one works right away. no power supply needed. I think the old just gave up after 15+ years .
