Topic: MADI 48k vs 96k

Could someone please help me understand how the MADI channel count and i/o changeS between 48k and 96k? I'm running hdspe madi fx with 3 MADI interfaces (Orion32HD, RME ADI6432, Burl B80). I was always using them at 48k but now i seem to struggle to understand and make my setup work at 96k. If the channel count halves with double speed, how does it relate to i/o and channel numbers? I seem to loose signals at 96k except for the first MADI port where i do get the first 32 ch ok at 96k. My most puzzling issue is how to setup the i/o so i can use the same hardware at both sampling rates without having the change i/o in software. 32 channels are enough on each MADI port so that's fine. It seems hard to find info though on for example where the ports change in channel numbers. At 48k i have 1-64, 65-128 and 129-192. What happens at 96k? Are they still starting at #1, #65 and #129 and the first 32 only in use? My experience and trials don't seem to confirm that. If someone is running plenty of hardware via several MADI interfaces, and is switching back and forth between 48/96k i'd very much like to hear how they manage it! Or if anyone just knows how it's supposed to work in theory. Much appreciated, greetings from Finland.

Re: MADI 48k vs 96k

As you say the first 32 channels are ok.
Use channels 1 to 32 on the first port.
Use channels 65 to 97 on the second port.
Use channels 129 to 161 on the third port.
Did you enable double-speed at one of the other devices ? It may did half the channel number again unnecessarily ?

BTW 48k and 96k sounds like the MADI frame rate, if you mean sample rate, better refer to it in kHz.
