Topic: TotalMix meters dead every morning

Hello Forum,

Every morning when I start work, metering in Totalmix is gone. Audio still passes, the ARC USB still controls TotalMix properly, etc., but there is no level meter animation. I have tried restart the AVB Controller and restarting TotalMix, but the only thing that seems to work is a reboot. This is not particularly convenient.

Any ideas what might be going on overnight while I'm not looking?

Thanks,

BTW, I am using the kernel driver, not the DriverKit driver, because I am also running Rogue Amoeba stuff....

Re: TotalMix meters dead every morning

I think I have answered my own question. It seems that TotalMix stops displaying meters when the Digiface AVB loses sync. It had been synced to its first input stream, but was losing sync overnight, which somehow didn't affect the audio. I don't understand that. But it did stop the metering. I now have the Digiface AVB synced to word clock. It can't lose that.

A weird side effect I mention for AVB users who may also struggle with mysteries trying to get hardward from different manufacturers to work together. Now the RME and M64 have word clock sync, and the Ultralite is synced to a stream from the M64. But when I hooked word clock to the RME, the output of the Ultralite was phasy and distorted, even though it said it was synced. I had to set the Ultralite sync to INTERNAL to make it sound correcct. I definitely don't understand that. It says it is synced to 48k somehow and audio output sounds correct.

Re: TotalMix meters dead every morning

I take it back. That's ONE thing that can happen, apparently. But this morning sync was fine, of course. The word clock cable was still attached. But TotalMix was showing no metering. Instead of rebooting, I unplugged and replugged the Digiface AVB and that fixed it. So it was an RME reboot in this case.

Re: TotalMix meters dead every morning

Update to driver 4.09(2) which includes TM FX 1.86, firmware 255 for the DF AVB, and AVB controller 09576:

I read in the other thread that you use KernelDrivers. Which ones?

Latest TM FX 1.86 can be downloaded separately:
