Topic: newbie here. Meter lights frozen in Total Mix daw mode

Hi, I'm using an RME Fireface 800 in DAW mode. Why Daw mode?  Because I'm trying to make this as stream lined as possible without having to use Total Mix. I'm not getting any signal and the hardware meter lights appear frozen.  Running Mac OS ventura, M2 silicon chip. Everything downloaded onto my computer fine so I'm assuming it's compatible. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Re: newbie here. Meter lights frozen in Total Mix daw mode

Let me ask a few other questions instead.

If it’s a driver issue and/or a firmware/flash issue, what would be the indication of that other than not getting a signal? Edit: would it help to install digitech with this older interface (fireface 800)?

My other question is, what is the order of the signal path? Mic>pre>RME>Total Mix>DAW or mic>pre>RME>DAW>Total Mix? Thanks!

Re: newbie here. Meter lights frozen in Total Mix daw mode

So I followed the procedure up until this point:

Put in command into terminal and received the response, Missing expected argument ‘—volume-root <volume-root>’

Not sure if I missed something.
Could it be that I had a space between the  word root and /Volume. Such as,
root /Volume

?? Do these need to be without a space? Because the are separated in the link you provided.

Check the video linked in the first post. Sometimes it helps to put things in quotation marks.

This is from the video description :

kmutil trigger-panic-medic --volume-root /Volumes/Macintosh_HD

Copy the line into Terminal and execute.

Yes it is working now. Thank You!
Where I got it wrong in the terminal was a space between the, — volume. Once I eliminated that, it went through! Thank you again.

Update with question: all was working fine until I powered down my computer for a few days while out of town.  When I powered it back on, now getting the same issue that I had before I started this thread.

So before I run through the process again, I want to ask, is it something to be expected (having to reboot in recovery mode and the kernel extension/terminal issue) every time I power down?
