Topic: TouchOSC TM FX template

I am currently analyzing the RME TouchOSC template for controlling TotalMix FX.

I was wondering why most of the TouchOSC controls have incoming OSC messages defined to modify control properties (e.g. visibility, position, size, color…) and even scripts regarding colors, while TM FX never sends this kind of message.

Is it something useless that we could clean in the template? Could somebody tell me more about this?
Or perhaps could RME inform us about this?

Thank you for your reply, which is quite different from your previous reply, which I only received by e-mail notification and which, incomprehensibly, does not appear in a post on this topic (in this replay, you said that these additional options were necessary to support the MCU protocol).

So these options are added automatically when importing a TouchOSC mk1 model into TouchOSC mk2, depending on the import options enabled in TouchOSC mk2. Thanks for this insight, I'm still in the process of discovering TouchOSC mk2 and hadn't seen these import options.

Re: TouchOSC TM FX template

You are right. It was the first time i deleted my comment.
The reason is - because i was - simply wrong...

It was more a supposition than a funded and researched answer by me. I learned about the differences between mk1 and mk2 just after my first comment.

Typical case of - "do not post before think" ;-)

Sorry for that.

Re: TouchOSC TM FX template

I use my control surface in MCU mode to drive TotalMix Fx, where I also modify the display screens with SysEx, but I don't know the whole protocol precisely. Few people have the honesty to admit they've made a mistake, and that's a sign of intelligence. No doubt about it, given the quality of the answers you usually give.;-)
And in your second reply posted here, you really cleared things up for me.
So, thanks again!

Although MCU, sysex, MIDI, etc. is off topic here...

If you want to dive deeper, have a look at the github links, i posted here:

I learned a lot about MCU by studying the contents.

Anyway, thanks for the link ;-)

Re: TouchOSC TM FX template

Total newbie here to TouchOSC. I installed it on my phone, hoping to get a quick/easy way to adjust some things on TotalMix for a live band practice. Wow, was I wrong.

Maybe because I'm new to trying to get it to work, but at first glance it seemed the most illogical app I think I've ever used.

I downloaded the template above and can't even figure out how to load it. I tried "import" but it won't even let me select that file, I presume it thinks it's not a file type that can be imported. Of course, import doesn't seem to be the right thing to my way of thinking anyway, I would think it would be "open," but I can't find an open..

Does anyone have a "beginners guide to TotalMix and TouchOSC?" I've looked on YT and other places, but all I find are guides to making it work with other things, mostly DAWs. Which all involve the midi bridge. I just want it to work with TM, I'm assuming that is only through OSC and not midi, but maybe I'm wrong about that. A point towards a "guide for dummies" would be most helpful smile

Re: TouchOSC TM FX template

which touchosc did you install? The "TouchOSC" version or the "TouchOSC MK1" version?

if first - https://hexler.net/touchosc/manual/edit … face#panel

if second (MK 1) - https://hexler.net/touchosc-mk1/manual/ … age-itunes

Thanks, I installed the first one TouchOSC.

When I click the "open" icon, it gives me a mostly blank screen with "autosave.tosc" at the top, and "import" "new" and "cancel" at the bottom. The only way I can see of loading a template off my drive is the "import" button.

When I hit the "import" button, I get a list of files and can navigate to my "cloud drive" which is where I have the RME template stored. The template file is grayed out, so I can't load it.

I can see other files that are't grayed out, like jpg files, etc. Not sure why it won't let me load the template file.

EDIT_UPDATE - I  moved my file to downloads, and renamed it ending it in .tosc instead of what it was, which was .touchosc Then the app recognized the file and let me import it. But when I tried to open it, by selecting it, I got "error opening document the file might be corrupted.." I'm going to try downloading it again.

EDIT_UPDATE number 2 - I'm not sure what I downloaded was actually a touchosc template and now I can't even find where I downloaded it. At the momeny I don't know where to get a touchosc template for TotalMix..

Re: TouchOSC TM FX template

You can get the templates here:
http://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/tosc_ … mplate.zip

Of course you have to unzip them first.

Your TouchOSC version should be able to import both filetypes: .tosc and .touchosc
