Topic: Multiface II with 8 channels coming in via Optical MOTU 2408 MK II?

Hi, I am the happy owner of a HDSP PCI card and a Multiface II, as of today. (Windows XP)
I was thinking, yes, the 8 inputs are great. That's why I wanted one. And I'm running a legacy 32-bit desktop PC for using legacy apps with.

Is it possible for me to get the audio inputs of the MOTU 2408 MK II to the Multiface via say Optical cable? Has anyone done something like this? Would I then be able to tell my legacy apps, "here, here's RME Multiface II, with 8 analog inputs, and 8 additional channels coming via optical" - and it'd work?

I'm using Logic Audio Platinum 5.5.1, btw.

I've never used the MOTU 2408 MK II for anything, bought it for cheap, i know it's firewire. but could i somehow route the audio coming to it via optical input?

Yes, the 8 channels are the hardware input channels Adat 1 to 8 in Totalmix.
In the HDSP settings make clock-mode external optical.
