Topic: [Solved] Fireface 800 MIDI Problem

Hey guys,
I try to control my Fireface 800 via Midi (only the Master Fader).
When I have Totalmix opened on my PC, I am able to control the Master Fader. As soon as I close Totalmix, it is not working anymore. The Front LED still indicates Midi coming in.

Has anyone an idea, what the problem might be?

Flash Memory is updated, Driver is up-to-date
Enable Midi Control is ticked
Enable Stand Alone Midi is ticked
I hit Store current State into Device multiple times
Mackie Control is not needed, as I only use the Midi CC 07
I restarted the device multiple times

I would be grateful if someone has an idea...
Kind regards!

Stand-alone means no connection to a PC....

I know and that is exactly when I need the stand-alone modus: when my pc is turned off.
Unfortunately it is not working without the totalmix opened.

Re: [Solved] Fireface 800 MIDI Problem

Hi!
From the manual:

Simple MIDI Control
Several important faders can be controlled in stand-alone MIDI mode using the standard Control Change Volume (CC 07) and Control Change Pan (CC 10). With this, the most important volume settings of the Fireface are controllable from nearly any MIDI equipped hardware device.
The faders are controlled via different MIDI channels:
Hardware Output (equals third row, volume only)
Analog Out 9+10 (Phones) MIDI channel 1
Analog Out 1+2 MIDI channel 16

So maybe you have to set your controller to channel 16?

Re: [Solved] Fireface 800 MIDI Problem

Hey Oli,
I was controlling the fireface all the time with Channel 1 (Main Out). That was working while Totalmix was online.
Now I tried Channel 16 and it works all the time! I can't explain why Channel 1 was controlling my Main Out, but whatever.
Thank you very much

Re: [Solved] Fireface 800 MIDI Problem

Glad to hear it really was that. To my understanding, the MIDI channels only are related to the standalone mode. So it wasn’t an issue to use ch. 1 as long the Fireface was connected to the running computer.
