I bought a cheap wooden monitor stand. One (or even two) ADIs fit perfectly inside. However it moves around quite a bit when plugging in headphones or pressing buttons. Is there a template how I would have to drill mounting holes in the wood? Which screws to use with the device to mount it? Do I have to remove the rubber feet? I left a gap on the left for ventilation. Is this enough? See picture.
For ADI-2 Pro ventilation is sub-optimum this way, but might just be OK.
To avoid a lot of hustle with measuring and drilling, cut little triangles from a rubber eraser, and stick them in the upper slot between ADI-2 and the stand, to clamp-hold ADI-2.
Or to get holes right, you could place blank sheet of paper on the side of the unit and use slightly the pencil to cover the paper with pencil "lines". The holes will be visible on the drawing and the edges of interface as well.
As kids we have done this with coins and it went out pretty well. You have to aim pencil sort of flat so that pencil line is sort of thick and light, not much visible.....
KaiS's solution seems to be easier and more versatile, unless the space above unit is big.
If you screw it, be sure the screws don‘t protrude into the housing.
There are only some mm until they punch the circuit board.
It looks to me as if there is not even a finger's width of space above the housing. This could possibly be a little too little for purely passive cooling and heat could build up.
Above all, there should also be enough space on the underside of the device to allow heat to be dissipated by the normal (passive) air circulation.
If you now remove the rubber feet at the bottom and fix the ADI to the wood, two things will happen: 1. the heat will build up at the bottom and cannot be dissipated and 2. wood is a poor conductor of heat. If you had a metal rack tray, then some heat could be dissipated via this and you would generally still have at least one finger of play at the bottom.
So I'm afraid the whole thing will just get too warm. Probably even more so in summer temperatures.
I see, the unit does get quite warm. Maybe I just switch the stand for a 2-3 Unit metal rack and then properly mount it using the universal rack mounting kit. The monitor stand was only around 15 eur anyway...

ADI-2 Pro gets warm specifically on the underside.
Cut a rectangular hole in the wood under ADI-2 to allow some airflow.
Don‘t remove ADI-2‘s feet.
If you now clamp ADI-2 like suggested it should work.
Why not try double-sided adhesive tape under the feet ?
That would ruin them (foam on the underside).

Of course - the Blu-tak would creap into the foam.
I still see my rubber-eraser-piece clamp suggestion as the easiest, most effective and least destructive.
It even has the advantage that ADI-2 could still be pulled out for recabling in case needed.
