Topic: RME ADI-2 PRO - Hifi Use Case Suitable?
Hi there,
I'd like to use an ADI-2 Pro in the following use cases (home hifi), could you please confirm if it will work without having to recable/reset anything when switching between the two?
I have an integrated Rega amplifier with internal DAC and I'd like an easy way to do the following (source is Sonos Port music streamer which has only one digital SPDIF output on Coax).
1 - Listen to Sonos using the Rega amplifier DAC (unmodified/clean signal) - for this I assume I can use the ADI-2 in Digital Passthrough mode. I believe I could connect Sonos SPDIF -> ADI-2 Coax SPDIF In and connect ADI-2 Digi Coax output to Rega Amplifier SPDIF COAX In.
2 - Listen to Sonos using ADI-2 DAC with RME EQ applied. I believe I would connect the unbalanced output of the ADI-2 to one of the analogue inputs on the integrated amplifier.
Do you know if the above would work? And does the ADI-2 essentially support both of these use cases at the same time? Essentially I have some recordings in my music collection that would benefit from some EQ being applied but I'd like a "one switch" way of changing between the integrated DAC on the amplifier with no modification performed (let's call it pure mode) and using the RME DAC for an EQ'd sound.
If the RME supports both of these use-cases at the same time I believe all I'd need to do is flip the input on the integrated amplified and the RME would be in a "set and forget" configuration.
Thanks for reading and let me know if you think this would work.
