Topic: Fireface 802 FS vs Fireface UFX II

I'm comparing both devices, I have some clear ideas:

- Both units have the IO I need (don't need MADI)
- 802FS can't be controlled from the unit
- 802FS don't have meters/display
- 802FS preamps gain use a physical knob
- 802FS phones volume use a physical knob
- 802FS does not have a main volume knob (should use ARC USB or external monitoring system)
- 802FS does not support DUREC (standalone direct USB recording)

but also have some doubts:

- do they share preamps?
- do they share converters?
- do they have the same DSP power?
- is there any routing limitation on the 802FS?
- is there any other downsize / limitation if choosing 802FS?
- will they have a similar supported lifetime? (based on release date and common RME practices)

Thanks for all :-)

Re: Fireface 802 FS vs Fireface UFX II

For quick comparison, you can use my sheet

The later UFX II got the same analog section of UFX III with converters of early ADI-2 Pro's.

I regard the digital control of mic preamps and headphone output better (if you can store, recall from snapshots).

802 FS does not have Autoset, DURec and not the mic preamps similar to 12Mic with 75 dB gain.

The UFX II uses the newer MADIface USB driver offering a very low ASIO buffer size of 32 samples, like PCIe drivers.
