Topic: AES/EBU Question with older gear

Hi all,

I'm curious about using the AES/EBU connections on the UFX II as stereo inputs from one of my older synthesizers that has AES/EBU IO. The manufacturer of the synthesizer says it supports up to 48kHz 16-bit audio. The synth can be slaved to the clock of the UFX II using its AES/EBU input connected to the AES/EBU output of the FF UCX II.

However, I tend to run my projects in Ableton at 48kHz 24-bit audio. What happens in the scenario where the data coming into the AES/EBU connection is 16-bit but the project is 24-bit? Does it get converted so to speak or is it not possible?

Re: AES/EBU Question with older gear

The RME driver will pad the 16 bit AES input signal to 24 bits, nothing to worry about here.
