Topic: Instr inputs not in Windows Sound settings?

I'm generally new and this is probably a stupid question. I want to record my guitar directly, but I only see my analog inputs in Windows sound settings. How do I gain access to the instr inputs in Windows 11?

Re: Instr inputs not in Windows Sound settings?

This is only about the WDM channels, these are typically only used for general multimedia rather than recording.

See the Fireface USB Settings app, there you can configure the number of WDM channels shown. Set the drop down box to 2 (instead of 1) and all 4 analog I/O channels should be available.

If you use a real DAW software then the RME ASIO driver is available. That will show all I/O channels all the time.

Ah okay, I was eyeing that setting as a possible culprit. However changing it to 2 did not seem to make those inputs accessible in my Windows sound settings. Even after a restart. Does anything look wrong with my Fireface USB settings?

Re: Instr inputs not in Windows Sound settings?

I've always wondered what happened to this menu when I switched to Windows 11 big_smile. Cool I re-enabled the device in that menu and now I can see it in the new and improved Windows 11 system sound menu. Thanks for all your help!
