Topic: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Hello,

I am using Rephase to create convolution files which are filters for my active speakers.

I am using a vintage free plugin called ConvolverVST but you need to register some dlls to windows and it might not work forever.

I am looking for a convolution plugin that could easily use these files.

here is a .wav convolution file

Thanks !

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

A plugin needs a host to plug-in, right ?
Most host (DAW) comes with built-in plugin for IRs.
Reaper has ReaVerb where you can load a IR.
Logic has SpaceDesigner.
What is your DAW ?
And your wav file is very low volume. You may normalize it to 0dB or let's say -6dB, otherwise you have to ad a lot gain.

Hello,

If you click on that link, you will find the graph from my light daw, cantabile

https://ibb.co/6r2pZXy

I use the stereo flux as loopback and then it goes through several filters to create 4 ways output, lfe, bass stereo, mid stereo, high stereo.

The volume is balanced to feed directly power amps.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

There are many free IR-loader VST plugins :
https://www.igniteamps.com/#nadir
https://lancasteraudio.com/pulse/
https://ugritone.com/products/trve-cab-ir-loader
https://landing.choptones.com/free-ir-loader
https://www.fractalaudio.com/cab-lab-4/

You may have to register to their website in some cases to get the download but it's free.

Thanks,

not managing to make all of them work.

Anyway was looking for something simpler.

This is what I am using

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Of course you want something simpler !
This is a hell complicated mess.
You have a DAW.
It can load VST plugins.
Load the plugins in the DAW at the right place and it gets a lot simpler.
Convolver is a kind of replacement of DAW.
Using plugins without a DAW.
What a mess !
Reaper DAW is perfect for your task and it is that what you are asking for in the titel.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Hello,

I noticed that I may have problems due to x86-x64

So I installed Cantabile 64 bit, because I know how to use it.

I configured it and I am trying MConvultionEZ which seems to work and is quite simple

Glad you solved it.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Cantabile is not really  a DAW. It’s used as a host for vst instruments to play live. You need to be looking for effects that are low latency. If you are not using it live then get a real DAW like reaper etc.

Babyface Pro Fs, Behringer ADA8200, win 10/11 PCs, Cubase/Wavelab, Adam A7X monitors.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Hello,

I tried to use reaper but I don't know where to start and how to use the same graph. I will have to see a tutorial

Stereo loopback - convolution - delay * 4 times (4 stereo outputs needed, lfe, low, mids, high)

Perhaps I need more a vst host than a daw. 20 years ago I started with a simple one called 'console'

It is kind of a live setup, as the loopback is the stereo sound from qobuz or whatever and it is processed and sent to the analog outputs, power amps and speakers.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Reaper is the perfect VST host and a VST host is a DAW.
Reaper goes like this : A track is a track is a track is a track.
Double click into the left free area creates a track.
Create four tracks.
Of course also choose your interface as audio device: Options / Settings / Audio / Device / select the ASIO interface
In the FX of every track load your VSTs, the Ozone EQ and the delay.
Click the R button in all four tracks (activate the input)
Select the input channel (where your Loopback signal is)
Click routing in the track, it opens a routing window, left side bottom, add new hardware output, select desired output (not the same number as the Loopback player) and do further routing in Totalmix.
Play the music

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Hello,

thanks, with your help I managed to make Reaper work quickly !

Actually I found out that with both Cantabile and Reaper I have issues with MConvultionEZ, it is unstable and then starts to ripple...

So I read some forums and re read what was told here that Reaper has its own convolution engine. I gave it a try and had to understand the dry-wet principle and the ZL Zero Latency principle. Eventhough I was sure it would not work with ZL, it actually does. Dont know about LL ?

So this is good stuff !

But one question, how can I apply my general EQ pulse to all channels ?

Here are 2 screenshots :

Regards, Greg. Thanks again !

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

You have four different outputs so you have to put it into all four tracks.
Otherwise it can be placed into the master bus FX or you create another track and send the sound from the other tracks thru it.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Thanks !

I will look into that.

Do you have any idea why it would ripple with other convolution Program and what is difference between zl ll ?

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Hello,

I didn't manage to make it work putting FX on the main bus. Even the main volume knob is not doing anything.

So I created an eq track, and sent it to other 4 tracks while removing input from the loopback from them...

It is working like that.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Ah ok, but the EQ track receives the Loopback signal ?
Glad you solved it.
Reaper offers endless routing possibilities, you have to understand the routing, then everything will work.

Re: Looking for convolution ASIO plugin

Yes,

The eq tracks receives the loopback input and then the 4 other tracks receive this track as an input.

The realverb convolution plugin is very efficient and very stable, I like the minimalist presentation. Even though I don't understand the ZL LL and why output offset 1 is the right choice.

The main control doesn't do anything, don't know why but it is not very important now.

You have four tracks sending out to different channels directly then they don't go over the master bus.
The masterbus would mix them all together that's not what you want. You want four individual signals, right ?
In your scenario the master bus in Reaper is not in use, don't care about.
