Topic: Parametric EQ Preset for Audeze LCD-MX4

Hello, everyone,

first, let me express my excitement about the RME ADI-2 Pro FS Black Edition. I just got it today (been using a Steinberg UR 22) and it feels like I am, for the first time ever, really listening to music. What an amazing experience.

I will also upgrade from the Sennheiser HD 650 to the Audeze LCD-MX4 headphones, looked up the reddit thread and the github files and was only able to find the 10-band parametric settings.

How would one go about translating them to the 5-band eq (+ low & high shelf)?
Will there be adapted settings published as one can find them in the reddit thread?

Best regards

This EQ:

The closest approximation would skip bands 2, 4 and 7, and shift f3 to 1.100 Hz, f6 to 2900 Hz, Q6 to 2.

This EQ is too detailed anyway, and is set with higher resolution than the Harman target curve has (for a good reason that all people have different anatomy).
You can’t correct higher than you measure, or you will introduce errors instead of corrections.
So it’s a good idea to leave away narrow band corrections above ca. 2-3 kHz, where measurement accuracy doesn’t meet your personal anatomy anyway.

Thank you very much for the quick response!

Do you mean like this, as can be seen on the screenshot, or do you mean it is only a low shelf + band 3 & 6 adjusted?

Do you know if, used with these eq settings, the LCD-MX4 will deliver "better" results than the Sennheiser HD 650 with eq set?

Edit: I am using them in the context of producing and mixing electronic music.

Re: Parametric EQ Preset for Audeze LCD-MX4

You did the EQ exactly like I suggested.
As you can see, the curves match very well - I did an overlay ADI-2 (colored) vs. Oratory1990 (black):

Listening on headphones is a very personal thing.
If and what works for you, only you can find out.

Do test-mixes and judge the result, relative to big money commercial productions.

I will test this. Thank you very much!
