Topic: Additional Ravenna products?
I am curious about whether RME plans to develop any further Ravenna compatible products.
While I wanted AVB to succeed, as the most technically sound AoIP solution, my read is that due to poor/awkward support by switch manufacturers, and general implementation fragmentation and compatibility problems across the industry, that AVB is on its way out. Very few companies have seemed to adopt it.
Dante appears to be successful, but as a closed/proprietary system, I am not rooting for it to become the de facto standard for AoIP.
That leaves Ravenna. This is an open system (and Merging has even fully open-sourced their Linux kernel driver, which is amazing), along with broad feature support, and open control. So I like it. However, it’s the standard with the least support from RME.
Could an M-1620 R, an M32 Pro II-R, or a Ravenna Tool, be possible?
