Topic: How to connect RME ADI 2/4 Pro to Genelec 8361A?

Hi, I’m connecting RME ADI 2/4 Pro to Genelec 8361A thru XLR Analog line output. Genelec GLM calibrated and set the GLM volume at 0db, RME ADI 2/4 line out 1/2 with setting ‘Auto ref turn off’ +13bBu.

Am I connecting it right? What’s the correct/optimal setting to connect both?

Thank you.

Check the monitors' input specifications in the manual...

You will find information in the Genelec manual on page 4 bottom left "Level" if you want to use the hardware controls built into the monitor. You can also adjust level using GLM. Best setting depends on use case.

Best results with the RME unit are achieved using Auto REf, which optimizes output according. This is explained quite nicely in the manual.

(I for one use digital input and control volume via GLM with their hardware knob.)

I use my ADI-2 DAC FS to adjust the volume but the GLM level is fixed (and stored in monitors/subwoofer) and set low enough so that a full scale signal is not too loud. Auto Ref is also enabled, and I use the analog input on the Genelec.

It's a trial and error approach to set the GLM level that works for you for your content.

If you're using auto standby on the Genelec (they call it ISS) note that it will not work if you're using the digital input.

Confirm, exact same setup I use successfully.
