Topic: M32 pro da CV output via D-sub?

Hello, I’d like to send some clock/cv/gates out my M32 pro da.

D-sub to 1/4in to 3.5mm adapters? Doesn’t make sense seeing as the outs are balanced. Would I need to flout a 8ch
D-sub.
Rather not mangle a an expensive cable.

Wanted to see how users of the m32 pro da are sending cv to their modular rig.

Thx

You need to use the balanced outputs unbalanced. In this case use the positive pin (2 on XLR) and GND (1 on XLR) only. How you do that via what cable or adapter is your decision.

Thank you.

Re: M32 pro da CV output via D-sub?

Hello Matthias, regarding this cabling. I have been using TRS D-subs for inputs on my m-32 pro ad.
Signals coming from a bunch of old Roland TR drum machines (unbalanced). Would I be getting static from not having the trs modified?

I've noticed some static at unity gain on my mains. Isolated a tr-707 running unbalance to balanced via TRS d-sub on my H9000 direct analog input to madi.... but can't seem to hear much static via any unbalanced to balanced signals going to the m-32 pro inputs.

What would be the proper wiring for zero noise unbalanced to balanced via trs D-sub cables?

Thanks
Eden

Re: M32 pro da CV output via D-sub?

Did you check the TR707 power supply? Is that linear or swiched mode?

The Roland most probably has mono output sockets, so not shorting the ring contact. That might indeed give a little bit of 'static'.

Oh, and the TR707 is anything but clean - from today's point of view...maybe what you hear is just normal.

Re: M32 pro da CV output via D-sub?

It might be that the H9000 analog inputs are not servo balanced. Unlike the m-32 pro.
Might try a Di with the 707.

Yes.... noise on most of the older unbalanced gear is mild or with in reason.

Becoming a picky bugger in my 50's!

Going to double check the sensitivity of my monitors again today. Could be pushing them.

Re: M32 pro da CV output via D-sub?

So I've noticed that if I set my Dyna core 7's monitor's to +24dbu and main outs on my UFX+ at +4dbu the static is gone.
Both at set at +4 or +24 I get static at unity? Normally I run everything at +4dbu.
Am I just masking noise here? Not understanding. The SPL level on the monitor's is set to 96db.
I could set them down to 88db but it's fairly quiet for mid size room referencing.

Any suggestions
