Topic: Stand alone DURec Monitoring?

Is it possible to use the Fireface UCX II totally standalone for recording?

In other words, to record a track to an external drive, then play that track back while recording another track along with it?

My goal would be to be able to record totally free from my computer, and then when all the tracks are recorded go to the DAW for mixing etc.

Re: Stand alone DURec Monitoring?

YES
Page 102 in the user manual says so.
Before buying the device better read carefully the entire user manual.
Ask the forum if something is not clear.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Yes, keeping in mind that recorded files cannot be renamed while stand-alone operation.

Not possible, only 1 operation at the same time, or record or playback.

No problem, just drag and drop the recorded file to your DAW or use the RME app Multichannel WAV File Batch Processor to separate recorded tracks.

That is incorrect. DURec does not allow playback while recording (or overdubbing). This feature would require either a computer or an iPad connected to the UFX II.

Thanks, that's just how it appeared to me, but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something. I'll just have to figure out a workflow.

Thanks Matthias, doubly confirmed. I thought I was dreaming a little too big.
