Topic: AES EBU Digital Outputs for Multichannel 5.1 set up

Hey, I have a UFX ii and am wondering if it is it possible to use AES EBU to set up a 5.1 speaker set up, complete with having each output routed in to its own channel in total mix?

AES connectors are usually stereo channel. No surround on this.

The Adat optical port is for 8 channels and surround configuration is possible. Check your surround speaker set for optical toslink input port and check the user manual if this port is SPDIF (stereo) or Adat (8 channels).

If you have speakers with AES input, you may mix those with analog speakers connected to analog outputs in TotalMix.
I am using the AES on my FF802 FS for the mains, spdif outs for side, analog for the rest in Atmos 7.1.4
If you mix those different speakers you should delay compensate those in TotalMix.

It's possible to use AES in 5.1  and more but you need to convert from MADI to AES. That is possible with the RME ADI-6432.
