Topic: Please help -->. TotalMix does not "see" UCX II

Hi.  I'm installing RME driver package on a new M4 Pro Mac, Sequoia OS.  Fireface USB DK 417.pkg.

UCX II is plugged into a Thunderbolt 5 port. (I will test USB on dock).

Turning on the UCX II does not automatically launch a Mixer window in TotalMix as I'm used to.  In TotalMix, selecting "New TotalMix Window" brings up a dialog box where the "Device Selection" pane is empty.

Fireface USB Settings show Firmware v43.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

UPDATE:  I was able to Flash the unit and install driver updates.  Still does not launch TotalMix on start up...nor does the UCX II show up ib the "Device Selection" window.   I have tried using the Thunderbolt port and USB-C port on front of the Mac via adapter.  I want to connect the UCX II via UBS-C on my OWC Thunderbolt 4 Dock.

Re: Please help -->. TotalMix does not "see" UCX II

If you click the device selection field, isn't your unit there to select ?

Re: Please help -->. TotalMix does not "see" UCX II

After successfully Flashing the unit and installing the latest Driver updates via my old machine, same issues remain.....  powering up the UCX II does not launchTotalMix...and the interface does not appear in the "Device Selection" window.

Fireface USB Settings app will not even launch.

Thanks for the help !

Re: Please help -->. TotalMix does not "see" UCX II

Yes, connected directly to the computer, but ... there aren't any USB-A ports on the M4 Pro Mac minis.  I'm using an Apple USB-C adapter to connect the interface to the USC-C port on the front of the Mac...and I tried using the same adapter to connect to the Thunderbolt ports on the back of the unit.

Also, the Fireface USB Settings app will not even launch.

In the system report (great idea!!) ...the UCX II shows connected to the USB Device Tree.

UPDATE:
Connecting via the Thunderbolt Dock...UCX II doesn't show up in the system report.  Even plugged into a USB-A port.  No go.

Connected via adapter to the Tb5 connection on the back of the computer, the UCX II shows up in the Device Tree under USB 3.1 .  That's a win.  But still can't get TotalMix to "see" the UCX.

Re: Please help -->. TotalMix does not "see" UCX II

While on my old computer, the Flash tool successfully updated to:
USB 43
DSP 34
Class-Compliant 21

The Flash tool launched on my new Mac...it shows...43,0,0,0.  DSP & Class Compliant are not updated.

The update button doesn't do anything.

It does list my unit by serial number correctly at the top of the window.

I think I found the issue ... will update in a few hours.

I didn't use Mac Recovery Mode for the install.  User Error.  I know, I know...shocking.

MacOS system preferences / general / startup items and extensions
scroll down to driver extensions and click the i-icon at the right side end.
It may reveal a switch, make sure it is ON.

The "disable SIP" in recovery mode is only need for kernel extension driver
not need for installing the new driverkit driver 4.17.

Yes, as far as I understand this security setting is only need for the installation, once the driver is installed it can get back to normal.

Thanks for the report, glad you can work.

You are not the first with that issue with this hidden switch.

Very intersting situation. Will RME find a solution or will an Apple update fix it... ?

Then the Kernel Extension driver will be removed automatically from the system as it is not allowed to be used anymore.

@waedi: I wonder how you could have missed this - using that process has been described here several times as last resort to get rid of the driver's kernel extension when uninstallation fails.
