Topic: Switching buffer size / block size on HDSPE MADI FX very slow

Hi All,

I'm having an issue where when switching buffer sizes on the HDSPE Madi FX (KEXT Driver) in my daw (Studio One 7) it takes a couple minutes for the switch to complete (indicated by the ablility to play audio again in daw and the yellow mic icon https://i.imgur.com/owk1dp1.png in the menu bar coming back). If I switch buffer sizes using a baby face fs or apollo x8p, the switch happens instantly.

Couple of data points:

- Switching buffer sizes with Driverkit Driver on the HDSPE Madi FX works as it should, instantly. However I've had a few funky things happen with driver kit so I'm trying to see rolling back to the kernal extension driver stabilizes the card.

System info:

Macbook Pro M1 Max
MacOS 14.7
RME HDSPE Madi FX Rev. 2
Kext 1.34
Driverkit: 1.13
Totalmix 1.97

Thank you in advance for you time and help.

Driver kit 1.13 ? Sure ?
May you try with the actual version 4.17 ?

Hi,

I'm not quite understanding your suggestion. Driverkit 1.13 is the latest for the RME HDSPE MADI FX as far as I know. Also driverkit isnt the issue with the buffer changes.

Thank you

Apologize, my bad, I overlooked the model.

As I remember here with the 4er DK drivers changing buffersize works instantly.

Correct driverkit is fine. I'm trying to solve the issue of why the buffer size change takes so long under Kernel Extension driver. It was totally fine under previous MacOS versions. Thank you

Bumping this to see if anyone at RME has any insight or suggestions. Thank you.
