I have an 802 with an ADI8 ADAt expansion and a Scarlett octopre Adat. I run everything at 48k.
I believe the max amount of channels I can add is 8 i/o x2 ADAT, correct?
I love this 802 so much, but I rarely ever use the 4 preamps in the front. I'll maybe use 1 or 2 max. Trying to figure out which units to look at so I can expand my line level i/o. I'd like to use an RME as my master unit and 1 or 2 ferrofish pulse16s.
18 to be exact.
2 x Adat (2 x 8 channels at single speed 44,1 or 48 kHz sample rate)
1 x AES stereo channel, ADI-2 FS would fit well with cables XLR to cinch.
You can connect 16 channels via ADAT which matches with one Pulse 16 which also has 16 channels at single speed.

Thinking about swapping out my entire setup and starting over with a new RME that is all line in and will let me expand to more channels. For now I am good, I have owned this 802 for 5 years and it has been top notch.

next step would be MADI
The UFX lll has Madi connection and a M32 AD Pro ll will give you additional 32 analog line inputs.
Feel free to study the user manuals of these equipments (before buy).
Or digiface usb, 4 adat in and outs. 32 channels at 48k.
Perfect, thanks all. Digiface usb plus 2 Pulse 16s may make the most financial sense.The UFXIII plus M32 AD Pro II sounds amazing, but a bit over my budget.
I am too hooked on RME Totalmix plus the reliability of it's clock and the interface to look elsewhere.

While it is not designed and intended to work standalone, it does not need computer to be connected since it has been initialized by TotalMix. Of course under the condition that it is kept powered.
I have it connected to powered USB hub so it is on 24/7 and keeps last TM setup.

Appreciate that. Luckily I don't ever use the effects in Totalmix, so that is fine.
