Topic: No audio on initial start up

A strange issue has developed with my ADI2 Dac. On initial switching on of the unit and starting to play a track the level meters show audio input but nothing is delivered to the speakers via line out - as if the unit is muted. Increasing the volume on the ADI2 by a few db will then generally result in audio appearing at the speakers and normal operation. This doesn't always happen, it seems to more frequently happen after a long period of power off, e.g. over night.

The source is Qobuz via Roon into a Wiim Pro streamer and the issue occurs using both coax and optical outputs to the ADI2. The ADI2 is connected via XLR cables to an NCore amp via a KRK subwoofer. I have tried a factory reset of the ADI2, but the problem persits.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Re: No audio on initial start up

Maybe your speakers/amp/sub enter standby mode and wake up with a delay after sensing input signal?

• Do ADI-2’s meters show some level BEFORE turning the VOLUME dial?

• Does it say “Mute” in the lower line of ADI-2’s display?

• What if you already start with a higher level dialed in (ADI-2 remembers the last setting)?

Re: No audio on initial start up

Thanks for the thoughts. The subwoofer has a standby toggle switch that was set to 'On'. Now disabled and the problem seems to have been resolved.  Not sure how this switch became activated, perhaps during the upheavals when the lounge was redecorated a few months ago.

Automatic standby is a good thing to save energy - opposed to not switch stuff off at all.
Even extends the service life of stuff.
