Topic: Cannot see any MADI Input Audio in Ableton Input Channel

Hello everyone,

here's my setup:

- Fireface UFX III
- M-1620 Pro
- both above are connected via MADI coaxial, IN and OUT
- no ADAT/AES/SPDIF/ABV involved

I have set up the signal routing inside 1620 Pro.

In TotalMix FX, I can see that audio is properly routed to MADI 1/2 IN, so I assume that routing part is all good.
TMX Input MA 1/2

My problem is I don't manage to have this audio input routed in an Ableton Live audio channel.

In Ableton Live, here's my settings:
- driver: Asio
- device: Asio MADIface USB

I have checked all Audio Input available, because I have no idea about how Ableton will number the MADI 1/2 input once exposed to Ableton.
Ableton Input Config

But despite I see the audio coming in TMX in MA 1/2, I can't see any coming from that MADI input to any available input channel in Ableton.
Ableton Audio Input Channel

Do you see any issue there? What am I doing wrong? Is it an Ableton issue?

Trying to wrap my head around this for days now...
I'm pretty new to TotalMix and Ableton but after some training time I thought I had a rather decent understanding of all the routing concepts behind these two. What am I missing? smile

Thanks!

Is the unit connected to USB 3.0? Make sure the cable supports that as well.

Daniel, you're a saint.

I feel so stupid in the process, but that was it...

I replaced the USB cable by another one, specifically marked USB 3, and then I could see 16 additional inputs channels in Ableton config (from 31/32 to 45/46), MADI channels starting from 31/32, which makes total sense as they apparently come after the 16 ADATs.
Man... what a relief.
Side note for the records, when I swapped the cables, the USB config has been slightly reset and the 1620 Pro was not in sync anymore, but just going through the settings dialog again fixed everything.

Thank you so much for your reactivity, really.

Let's make some music now!

J.
