Topic: Problems with last firmware update (REV. 9) on a MADI-Face

Dear folks,

we just found a serious problem on our MADI-face with the latest firmware (Rev. 9 released Nov. 13th, 2008):

The problem is:

Using the MADI-input (no matter if it's coax or optical) with MADI-face as slave the audio is digitally crackling with a hughe amount of high frequency noise starting just above the audio signal. The volume of those overtone is depending on the volume of the audio signal.

Downgrading to the earlier firmware Rev. 8 sloves the problem.

The same firmware update on a MADI PCIe-Card doesn't cause any problems. So it's occuring only on a MADIface.

Any thoughts on that, Herr Carstens?

Best regards from San Francisco

Hallo Herr Fuchs,

I can't tell more. The disturbing HF is all the way through this recording. The MADIFace HDSP control panel says that everything is locked by receiving the external clock via MADI coax. 48-channels have been recorded. No problem with firmware 8. We upgraded and downgraded between 8 and 9 and it was always the same case: 8 works fine, 9 is messy.

You're right, version 9 has a defective receiver. New firmware coming.
