Topic: MADIFace driver is blocking MIDI-OUTPUTS of external USB-boxes

Dear colleagues,

here my configuration:

WinXP SP3
MADIface (firmware 8) Driver 3.073
M-Audio MIDISPORT 2*2 USB-MidiInOutbox

I discovered the following problem:

as long as the MADIface driver has not been loaded or the MADIface has been disabled in the DeviceManger Windows recognizes both MIDI IN and OUTS of the MIDISPORT (MIDI-OX as well).

If I'm enabling the MADIface and restart Windows both (Windows and MIDI-OX as well) don't show the MIDI-OUTS of the MIDISPORT, only the MIDI over MADI-port of the MADIface.

That's a mess.

Since we don't have dedicated MIDI-ports on the MADIface we have to use external MIDI-devices for full MIDI-functionality.

Can somebody help? Is there a possibilty to tweak the RME-driver that it doesn't block anymore the external MIDI-OUTS?

Thanks in advance for any hints.

Re: MADIFace driver is blocking MIDI-OUTPUTS of external USB-boxes

The MADIface does not block other drivers. This is a standard Windows XP issue, the total number of WDM/MIDI devices is limited. Please reduce the number of WDM devices in the MADIface setup to 8 or 16, then it should work just fine.

Dear Herr Fuchs,

in the meantime I've found exact the solution you proposed. Thanks. But can you tell me why the default of RME is 32 and not lower?

Thanks again and best regards
