Topic: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

Hi there,

I got a Symbolic Sound Paca today and would like to try my Fireface 400 with it. Unfortunately, I must uninstall all the files from my MacBook Pro and there obviously isn't an uninstaller around. What files should I remove to avoid my MacBook from "seeing" the FF400 (don't ask, I just have to uninstall and that's it, heh)?

Shouldn't it be easy to include an "uninstall" option? :-)

Thanks,

Peppe

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

I'm not aware of any Mac software or driver that has an uninstaller. Apple does not think it's necessary. wink

It's not too difficult to remove the driver and apps. Just send all the files listed below to the Trash.

/Applications/Fireface Mixer
/Applications/Fireface Settings
/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Fireface MIDI.plugin
/System/Library/Extensions/FirefaceAudioDriver.kext
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Fireface folder
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.rme.FirefaceMixer.plist
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.rme.FirefaceSettings.plist

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

Some apps do come with their own uninstaller on OS X. I think this is a welcome service. wink

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

Someone with some knowledge (not me... I'm still a bit green on Unix...) could write down a simple uninstall script for Mac OS X... It's no big deal I think...

Cheers.

Fireface 400 + DIGI96/8 PAD. It's old but works.

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

Hi all,

I temporarily wanted to install the Fireface 400 drivers because I borrowed it from a friend.
So later I removed the files as described above.

BUT... This doesn't remove everything!

Now my computer slows down after a using Logic for a while. In the Activity Monitor.app I noticed coreaudiod in red (Not responding). When I quit that process, logout and login again everything works again.

But then I took a look at the logs in Console.app...
Hundreds of lines that say:

12-11-09 19:10:09 com.apple.launchd[122] (de.rme-audio.firefaceAgent[3825]) posix_spawnp("/System/Library/Extensions/FirefaceAudioDriver.kext/Contents/MacOS/firefaceAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/firefaceAgent", ...): No such file or directory

How can I solve this? I don't need the Fireface drivers anymore and now it's messing up my system!

Thanks!

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

After searching on Google I may have found the last file I needed to remove.

It's in:
/Library/LaunchAgents/

File is called com.rme.fireface something .plist

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

Yes, that was added in the new drivers. Anyone finding this thread in the future should look here for up-to-date information:

Dear Jeff, this is a dead link (it displays: Bad request. The link you followed is incorrect or outdated.)

Anything actual and up to date about uninstalling (everything) which has to do with ff400 driver, step-by-step? I would be really grateful as I'm trying to solve another problem.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Bellerophon.

Re: Fireface 400 uninstall - Mac OSX?

Thanks a lot Jeff. I was searching the Forum with "Fireface 400 uninstall Mac OSX" although logically thinking the "Removing the Fireface driver on Mac OSX" makes more sense for OSX.

Kind regards,
Bellerophon.
