Topic: Universal Audio Solo 610 with Fireface 400

I've just placed an order for a Universal Audio Solo 610 Tube Mic Preamp. I use an RME Fireface 400 and was wondering if anyone here is using the preamp with the ff?

I was just wondering about how I would connect because the Fireface mic inputs have mic pre's on them already. Would I connect from the 610 into the mic input on the ff? Will there then be two mic pre's running at the same time?

Re: Universal Audio Solo 610 with Fireface 400

Hi,

I'm not but
why not try the other channels without builtin mic amp
channels 3&4 or 5 to 8, and set level in Fireface Settings
-10 dBV, +4 dB or Lo Gain to match with UA Solo
then you avoid two mic amps in row.

Re: Universal Audio Solo 610 with Fireface 400

I would switch the preamp's output to line level and use any line input on the FF... Two mic preamps in a row is something I usually tend to avoid...

DC rules!

Re: Universal Audio Solo 610 with Fireface 400

Simply plug the 610 into input 5 or upwards of the Fireface and switch the output to line level - works perfectly!

Nuendo 12.0.40, RME Madiface XT, MacMini 2018, 3.2ghz 6 core i7, 32gb ram, Monterey 12.5.

Read your manual! You don't know that you have line inputs. They are 1/4 inputs suited for an external mic pre, keyboards etc. Read S-E Hansson post.
