Topic: Connecting ADI 2 via spdif out on motherboard - good idea ?

Would it work well to send audio from my pc to the ADI 2 via the motherboard's spdif out?

I'm considering getting a RME ADI 2, but my M-Audio Delta 44 sound card has no digital I/O.
The Asus P5K-E motherboard of my pc does though; it has an spdif out.
So I'm wondering if it would be possible (and a good idea) to use this, or if it would be better to get a new sound card with digital I/O.

The ADI-2 works with an onboard SPDIF output.
