Topic: Multiface II, Linux and 8 analog channels @ 96 kHz

Hello,

I have got reports about problems with using 8 channels @ 96 kHz with Multiface II in combination with Linux.

The output channels are prep'd by ALSA amixer commands:
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 26,0,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 27,1,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 28,2,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 29,3,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 30,4,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 31,5,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 32,6,32768
amixer -c 0 cset numid=5 33,7,32768

The first four channels are working but not the other 4 channels.

Does someone know a reason for this problem? According to the manual the 8 analog channels should all work with 96 kHz samplerate.
An ALSA driver problem or a problem of correct adressing?

Hi Uli, there is a linux forum further below where these issues can be explored.

Please provide some more information (if you can) about the system in terms of hardware, linux distribution, kernel, ALSA version, and anything else that might intervene.  I'll take a look at the amixer commands myself to see if anything is wrong.  My own system is 64studio 2.1 with a multiface II via HDSPe host card.

Hi Jonathan,

It is a Multiface II with the PCI host card rev. 1.9. Firmware rev. is 011.
Motherboard is dual Atom 330.
Linux is spblinux (on a memorystick) with kernel 2.6.26.8-rt12.
Sound driver is snd-hdsp. Alsa version is 1.0.18a (I checked also changelog of newer versions but there is nothing special with this driver).
The application is BruteFIR. It recognized the reduced number of channels in 96 kHz mode, there is no error about it.
Only the output channels 4 to 7 do not work.
No problem with these channels in 48 kHz mode.
