Topic: Fireface 800 with a firewire hub?

I saw that this topic got posted back in June and never got a reply.  It seems rather bizarre that no one would need to run their Fireface 800 on a hub (or attach a hub to it)  The only config I've found (other than connecting the fireface alone to my Macbook Pro)  is to run from my MacBook to a firewire drive and then use the drive's 2nd port to continue on to the Fireface.  Unfortunately that only allows me to use one drive.  My Macbook won't allow me to run its firewire 800 and 400 outputs simultaneously so isolating the fireface by putting it alone on the firewire 800 output isn't an option either.

Is there any way around this?  I've never encountered a situation like this (including with my Fireface 400 which runs quite happily on a hub.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
